It was announced today on AKB48's official blog that former group member Yuka Masuda has officially withdrawn from AKB48 subunit DiVA.
Yuka Masuda left AKB48 at the end of November after a sex scandal involving her and rapper ISSA made headlines. According to reports, Masuda spent the night with the ISSA at his house, becoming intimate with each other.
The sex scandal was made even worse due to ISSA's marriage with model Sachiko Fukumoto. After news broke of his alleged affair with Masuda, ISSA revealed that he had divorced Fukumoto before the incident occurred, but was steadfast in his denial that Masuda had anything to do with it.
DiVA is a vocal and dance subunit of AKB48 whose members included Yuka Masuda, Sayaka Akimoto, Sae Miyazawa, Ayaka Umeda and, later, 6 other girls. Masuda was still treated as a member of DiVA despite her withdrawal from AKB48.
According to an AKB48 manager Tomonobu Yogasaki, DiVA will still be active with Masuda and is scheduled to perform on January 23rd.
